Data policy · plain English

Your work, your control.

This page states Arqo's data commitments above and beyond what the law requires. It is binding on how Arqo operates. The legal privacy policy — covering cookies, jurisdiction, and formal GDPR/CCPA language — will be posted at /privacy before public launch. Until then this document governs our conduct.

What we will never do

These are guarantees, not aspirations. Each one applies regardless of competitive pressure, investor interest, or revenue opportunity.

  • Arqo will never generate blank-page scenes, scripts, or story content on your behalf.
  • Arqo will never write a script from a logline or any other prompt you submit.
  • Arqo will never produce auto-coverage or auto-notes that replace a writer's own read of their work.
  • Arqo will never sell, license, syndicate, or otherwise transfer your written work to any third party for any commercial purpose.
  • Arqo will never use your scripts, scenes, or dialogue as training data for any AI model, including models operated by Arqo, JMNPR, or any third-party provider.
  • Arqo will never market its product to studios or production companies as a tool for reducing writer headcount.
  • Arqo will never surface AI suggestions you did not explicitly request, or deploy autocomplete that invents content in your voice.
  • Arqo will never make it difficult to leave: your work is always exportable in full, and your account is always deletable in one step.

How AI gets used in Arqo

Arqo uses AI in four specific places. Nothing outside this list runs AI on your work.

Continuity Reader

Reads your complete script to flag internal contradictions — character names that shift, timeline breaks, prop inconsistencies. Returns a list of flags only. Never returns rewritten text or suggested dialogue.

Model: Claude Haiku / Anthropic. Script text is sent to Anthropic's API, processed, and discarded. Not stored.

Research Panel

Answers general-knowledge questions you ask while writing — historical dates, location details, jargon checks. Operates on your typed question alone. Your script is never sent.

Model: Claude Haiku / Anthropic. Questions and answers are not stored beyond your session unless you pin a note manually.

Voice Surfacer

Computes statistics on your own dialogue — word frequency, speech-length distribution, punctuation patterns — to help you track a character's voice across a draft. No AI model involved. All computation happens in your browser.

No data leaves your device for this surface.

Table Read (TTS)

Synthesizes voice audio for the dialogue in a scene so you can hear the script read aloud.

Selected dialogue lines only. Audio is generated on demand and not retained after playback.

Token usage for every AI call is logged per script and visible to you in the AI transparency log on your script dashboard.

What we guarantee about your scripts

  • We will not use your writing as training data — for our own AI systems or any third party's.
  • We will not read your scripts for any purpose other than running a feature you explicitly activated.
  • We will not retain any AI-processed version of your work after the feature call completes.
  • We will not share your work with a studio, production company, publisher, or industry database.
  • We will not share your account data with any third party for advertising, analytics, or profiling purposes.

Your controls

At any time, from your account settings, you can:

  • Export your full script library

Final Draft (.fdx), Fountain, and PDF, in a single download.

  • Delete any script

With a deletion certificate emailed to you confirming what was purged.

  • Review your AI transparency log

Every Continuity Reader and Research Panel call, timestamped, with a summary of what was sent.

  • Delete your Arqo account

30-day grace period, then full purge across all our systems.

WGA alignment

Arqo's data commitments are designed to be consistent with the WGA's 2023 AI provisions and the guild's ongoing positions on AI and writer rights. Specifically:

  • Arqo will not be used to generate script content that displaces covered writers.
  • Arqo will not be sold or licensed to studios for the purpose of replacing writing staff.
  • Arqo will not use writers' existing work to build AI systems that compete with those writers.

We are willing to sign a formal WGA-alignment statement if the guild requests one. Contact: data@arqo.com.
