How the memory layer works
What Arqo keeps about your story, what reaches a model, and what never happens to it. Never used as training data.
Arqo's memory is a record of what you wrote, not a model of how you write. It keeps track of your story so you do not have to hold all of it in your head. It does not learn your voice.
What it keeps
- Characters: every character cue becomes one, with their lines, words, the scenes they speak in, and their first and last cue. Counted from the page each time. Pro and Studio.
- Locations: every place your scene headings name, with its scene count and a day and night tally. Every plan.
- Story Memory: facts you add by hand, per script, in five sections: characters, locations, world rules, timeline and relationships. Arqo never adds one for you. Pro and Studio.
That is the whole of it. There is no store of plot threads, and nothing is kept that you did not write on the page or add yourself.
What reaches a model
Characters, Locations and Story Memory send nothing to a model. Arqo Assist is the one part that does, and only when you ask it something. Ask where Maya last mentions her father and the scenes of that script go to Anthropic with the question, as written rather than summarised, so the answer can point at the line. A vault script is refused before anything leaves.
There is no memory switch
Nothing here runs in the background for you to turn off. Story Memory is empty until you add to it, and Characters and Locations only count what is already on the page. Leave Assist alone and nothing of yours goes to a model.
Never trained on
It's in the no-list on the manifesto: scripts never enter training data. Not by Arqo, not by any provider we route through. For each Assist call Arqo records the date, the model and the tokens, never the words. Download that record as a CSV from You › Settings › Usage.
Your own key
Already paying Anthropic? Add your key in You › Settings › Model providers (BYOK). Studio includes it; on Pro it is an add-on. Calls on your key are billed to you by Anthropic. OpenAI and Google keys can be saved too, but today every Assist feature runs through Anthropic.
