Mira had been writing on Final Draft for six years and an iPhone Notes file for the seventh. Her pilot was 102 pages, three threads, eleven principal characters.

Then a contract gig pulled her into another writers' room for two months. When she came back, the pilot was a stranger.

Arqo opened the script on her phone — same Fountain engine she'd been using on desktop — and surfaced where each character had last been mentioned, what locations had appeared and when, and the line her antagonist had spoken in scene 17 that became the show's thesis.

"I didn't need it to write for me. I needed it to remember," she said. "It did."
