Every product choice, every marketing line, every partnership call goes through the same set of questions. If you want to understand why we built something a certain way — or why we refused to — this is the page. The long-form argument is in the manifesto.

The writer is the engine. Arqo is the amplifier.

Every feature Arqo ships must make the writer more themselves, not more dependent on us. If a feature flatters the tool rather than the writer, it does not ship. The question is never "what can the AI do here?" — it is "what does the writer need to do, and what is in their way?"

Arqo never originates. Arqo only amplifies.

Arqo will not write scenes from prompts. It will not autocomplete your dialogue. It will not fill a blank page. What it will do is stay in your work with you — surfacing what you have already written, keeping your characters consistent, tracking structure you have already chosen. The words are yours because only you wrote them.

The writer owns everything. Always.

Every AI action Arqo takes is auditable, undoable, and deletable. Your work is exportable in full at any time. Any memory Arqo holds about your project is visible to you. Nothing is hidden, nothing is permanent without your consent, and nothing is sold.

Principle 3 says the writer owns everything. The receipts surface is how we operationalise that line — every signed-in writer has a page at /account/memory-receipts that lists every row Arqo stores on their behalf and forgets any row on one click.

The language Arqo uses in product, marketing, and support follows from the principles above. The wrong framing signals the wrong product. The subject of every AI sentence is the writer or the work, never the AI.
