Plain English. The agreement between Arqo, Inc. (“Arqo,” “we”) and you when you use this product.
Arqo is a screenwriting application that lets you write, store, format, and export screenplays across mobile, desktop, and web. It includes optional AI features (suggestion, scene reports, drafting assistance) operated against third-party model providers.
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We’ll give you reasonable notice before removing something you rely on.
You need an account to save scripts to the cloud. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials safe, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. We ask you to confirm this when you sign up. If you are younger than that, Arqo is not available to you yet.
One person per account. You can use Arqo on as many devices as you like under one account. Team accounts (when available) are governed by per-seat licensing, one paid seat per human user.
You own everything you write in Arqo. Full stop. We claim no authorship, no derivative rights, and no license to publish or sublicense your scripts. You can export your work at any time to FDX, PDF, or Fountain.
We will never use your scripts to train AI models that compete with you. The four vows on our manifesto page are contractually binding under these terms.
You grant us only the limited license needed to run the service, to store your scripts so you can retrieve them, to display them on your devices, to send them to AI providers you explicitly invoke. That license ends when you delete the script or close your account.
You agree not to use Arqo to:
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section without refund. We’ll explain why in writing.
When you bring a script into Arqo, from a file, from a URL, or from our catalog, you're confirming you have the right to use it. Import your own work, work you have permission to use, or work that's in the public domain. Don't upload someone else's screenplay and treat it as yours.
Our script catalog is an index. It points at screenplays published elsewhere on the internet, and opening one fetches it from that source. We don't own those scripts, we don't claim any rights in them, and their presence in the index isn't a statement that they're licensed for any particular use. If a source is broken, wrong, or shouldn't be listed, tell us and we'll pull the row.
Rights holders can file a takedown through our takedown form. Our designated copyright agent, the elements a valid notice must contain, and the counter-notification route are all on our DMCA page. We review reports within two business days.
We terminate repeat infringers. A valid takedown notice about material you uploaded or linked is a strike on your account, and we'll tell you when you get one. Three strikes and we close the account for good. A strike comes off if you file a successful counter-notice, or if the claimant withdraws.
We may close an account on a single notice where the infringement is flagrant, a complete commercial screenplay uploaded for redistribution, say, or where you tell us outright that you have no rights to the material. Accounts closed under this section aren't refunded, and you'll get the same written explanation and export window as section 9.
You can buy a paid plan on our website or inside the Arqo iOS app. Which one you use decides who bills you, who can refund you, and where you cancel.
Buying on our website. Plans bought on tryarqo.com are billed monthly or annually in advance by our payment processor, Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited), which acts as merchant of record. Paddle handles tax, invoicing, refunds, and chargebacks on our behalf. You can cancel any time from your billing dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
Buying in the iOS app. Plans and credit packs bought inside the Arqo iOS app are sold by Apple through the App Store, under Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions. Apple bills your Apple Account and collects any tax. Arqo never receives your payment details, and only Apple can refund an App Store purchase. To cancel an App Store subscription, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel it. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the iOS app.
Free trials. Where a plan offers a free trial, we tell you how long it lasts before you start. If you don’t cancel before it ends, the subscription begins and you are charged the price shown when you started the trial. In the iOS app, Apple decides whether you qualify for a trial and manages it through your Apple subscription settings.
Auto-renewal. Every subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. We show you the price and the billing period before you subscribe.
Price changes. We may change pricing for new subscriptions at any time. If we change the price of a subscription you already have, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before the new price takes effect, so you can cancel before you’re charged it. For App Store subscriptions, Apple may also ask you to agree to the increase.
Paying twice. If one account ends up with both a website subscription and an App Store subscription, you get the higher of the two plans, and we’ll help you cancel the one you don’t want. App Store charges can only be refunded by Apple.
Refunds for website purchases are governed by our Refund Policy. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
AI suggestions, scene reports, and drafting assistance send relevant context (the scenes you’re working on, your character notes) to third-party model providers (currently Anthropic’s Claude family). We do not send your scripts to providers when you don’t actively invoke an AI feature.
If you connect your own API key for a provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or ElevenLabs for table-read voices), the features that use that key send the same kind of context to that provider instead, under your own agreement with them. We store your key encrypted and use it only for requests you make.
AI output is suggestion, not authorship. You decide what goes into your draft; the words in any final script are yours. We do not warrant that AI suggestions are accurate, original, or fit for any purpose. Don’t blindly accept AI output as factually correct.
Per-tier monthly AI quotas apply. Free includes 50 calls/mo; Pro includes 3,000 standard calls + 100 deep calls; Team includes Pro plus 200 deep calls per seat. Quotas reset at the first of each calendar month UTC.
Engine-quality retention is opt-in only, and off by default. Arqo runs on format and analysis engines, the parts that read a script’s structure rather than write anything. To check those engines work, we may keep de-identified excerpts of your work after a feature call ends: your name, account details, and the script’s title removed. We say de-identified rather than anonymous on purpose: a distinctive script can still read like itself, so we remove what identifies you, not what makes the writing yours. This happens only after you explicitly say yes. The engines measure and check (they do not generate) and nothing kept this way is ever used to train AI models, ours or anyone else’s. Nothing is shared outside Arqo. You can withdraw at any time by emailing hello@tryarqo.com; we delete what was kept within 7 days and confirm to you what was deleted. Section 3 stands: your work stays yours.
We aim for high uptime but make no guarantee. Cloud sync depends on your internet connection and on third-party infrastructure (Supabase, Vercel). Your local copy of any script you’ve recently opened remains accessible offline.
Scheduled maintenance gets at least 24h notice when possible. Emergency maintenance does not.
You can close your account at any time. Within 30 days of account closure, we delete your scripts, account record, and associated AI usage data. Backups containing your data are cycled out within 90 days.
We may close your account for material breach of these terms (acceptable use, payment fraud, repeated unpaid invoices). When we do, we’ll explain why and give you at least 7 days to export your work, except where immediate suspension is necessary to protect the service or other users.
Arqo is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties (merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement). Use of AI features is at your own discretion.
Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Arqo will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) US$100. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages (lost profits, lost scripts you didn’t back up, lost opportunities).
Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limitations. In those, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law allows.
We may update these terms. Material changes get at least 30 days’ notice via email and an in-app notice. Your continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms. If you don’t accept, close your account before the effective date for a pro-rated refund of unused paid time.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, except that you may bring small-claims actions in your local jurisdiction.
